Home Builder Benefits
In
this time of high and rising energy costs, reduced consumer confidence, and
public concern about growth issues, there is no better time for a builder to
take advantage of the Built Green distinction in the market place. Consider the
following:
- In a few short years, Built Green Colorado has become the most successful
program of its kind in the nation, with over 8,000 homes registered to date,
more than 100 participating builders across the state, and over 45 industry
sponsors.
- Local and national surveys continue to show a rising level of consumer
demand for "green" and energy efficiency homes, as well as a
willingness to pay extra for these features.
- Both Builder and Professional Builder magazines have recognized green
building as one of the most important trends in residential construction
today.
- Colorado homebuyer awareness of the Built Green brand continues to grow as
demonstrated by research conducted by The Genesis Group.
- The local print and electronic media continues to find Built Green and
green building in general one of the most well received, high
consumer-interest topics to highlight about our industry.
- Built Green is present in virtually every Parade of Homes across the
state, as well as home tours, home shows, and other public and industry
events, working to further inform the public and industry, and grow consumer
demand.
- Built Green conducts an on-going media relations campaign, purchases print
and television advertising, and has a highly visible, informative website,
all promoting the benefits of owning a home that meets Built Green
standards.
- Fannie Mae has developed mortgage products aligned with Built and
supporting resource and energy efficient home purchases - mortgage products
that are available only on homes that are register Built Green.
- Over 350 Built Green homes have been independently inspected and tested,
adding to a growing base of knowledge of building science and home
performance while providing the Built Green brand strong credibility in the
market place.
- 2000 Built Green successfully moved from public to private funding. The
Built Green Industry Leader members - Xcel Energy, Colorado Brick Council, James Hardie, Rheem, Trex, Whirlpool, Kurowski Development,
McStain Enterprises, and US Home - committed nearly $1 million toward
the administration and promotion of the program, further elevating home
buyer awareness and demand, providing valuable technical support to
builders, and building the Built Green brand.
- A new companion program, Built Green Communities, will be launched in the
near future, providing even more benefits to developers, builders, and
communities, and creating even greater awareness and demand for Built Green
homes.
- Both the HBA of Metro Denver and Colorado Association of Home Builders
unanimously adopted the following resolution in the fall of 2000: "By
2004 Built Green development in Colorado will dominate the market and
provide significant environmental benefits."
We encourage you to join Built Green Colorado, and to register 100% of your
homes with Built Green.
