BUILT GREEN® UNIVERSITY

ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO April 17th & 18th

SIGN UP NOW LEARN ABOUT THE IMPORTANT CHANGES
TO THE BUILT GREEN PROGRAM FOR 2007

Built Green Colorado is excited to announce our Spring educational seminar in Englewood, Colorado, the first of three Built Green Universities to be conducted this year (the next two will be held in the fall, with locations still to be determined). The Built Green University is a comprehensive and in-depth training on the Built Green program and checklist, covering topics such as compliance and verification within each category, followed by a brief marketing segment and a half-day in the field demonstrating an energy analysis and other applicable items on a home.

Remember, these seminars fulfill the Builder Education Requirement, so if you are a member of the program, and unsure whether your company is up-to-date on meeting this requirement, please go to the following link: http://builtgreen.org/directory/builders.aspx.

Builders will be trained on the new 2007 Built Green Checklist, receiving essential information on cost-effective methods to improve home performance, reduce callbacks, and increase their market edge. They will learn:

  • How (and why) to comply with the 2007 Built Green® Checklist
  • How building science and the systems approach results in better performing homes
  • How and why to go beyond the minimum in energy efficiency
  • Qualifying for the $2,000 Federal Energy Tax Credit
  • How all of this will reduce common problems and expensive callbacks
  • Tips & case studies on how to market “Built Green” to the consumer & the latest Built Green market research, demonstrating the sales opportunity of marketing the Built Green name.
  • Field demonstration at a local builder's home

Selling in a Goldilocks Economy: Is it a Matter of Porridge or Technique?

Metro Denver’s “Goldilocks Economy”, (not too hot, not too cold), according to The Genesis Group’s seminar Wednesday night at the HBA’s Builder Product Night. The seminar provided inspiration and examples of what makes some builders hotter than others.

Notable points from the night included consumer research; their research states that 56% of homebuyers in 2006 were unwilling to compromise energy efficiency in a new home! The home buyer of 2006 also said that a high-efficiency furnace ranks second in their list of “most preferred features” in a home. Not surprisingly, home buyers rate builder’s sales staff among the top 3 most influential places to gain information that will help make their home purchase decision. Your sales staff is your strongest tool, they reach the homebuyer better than any other marketing effort you employ.

Now more than ever Built Green builders need to “flaunt” the fact that their homes are built better! Get more involved with your investment, sell it – don’t give it away. Be sure to contact the Built Green Sponsors for all you high performance building needs. Click the link to the Built Green Sponsorship page.

March Your Way To The Top With This Month’s Sales Tip:

This month’s sales tip features item # 65 from the 2007 Built Green Checklist

Install an integrated whole house HEPA filter, it must be connected to ductwork with dedicated exhaust/supply points.

Sales Tip: The air inside a home can be five times more polluted than the air outside. Children, whose respiratory systems are still developing, are at greater risk of asthma or allergies if they are exposed to many airborne contaminants. Increased levels of contaminants in the air can even affect the well-being of fully developed, healthy adults. HEPA filters capture indoor pollutants such as mold spores, pollen, pet dander, dust, dust mites and their by-products, making the indoor environment safer for your family.
