  • Emil Wanatka and Lisa Dent, of Timberline Homes, in Durango and La Plata County
They have been the program’s greatest Durango-area cheerleaders, organizers and advocates. Emil is also the current president of Southwestern HBA, which has really helped the program work with the industry in and around Durango, CO.

2003 Inductees

  • JIM SABIN’S Hall of Fame certificate reads: “In memory of his vision, leadership and commitment to building environmentally friendly homes.”  Jim’s recent passing was a loss and heartbreak for many. Jim was the owner and founder of Aspen Homes, where he pioneered many innovations here in Colorado: the guaranteed utility bill; on-site grinding and recycling of construction waste; affordable high-performance homes, and the use bio-diesel fuel in company equipment. Clearly Jim was an innovator, a visionary and a risk-taker. He leaves behind a family-led company that is fully charged with his energy and vision, ready to take on the next first: the Zero Energy Home. In honoring Jim Sabin we also welcome and encourage Jim’s son Jammie as he takes the helm and charts the course for the future of Aspen Homes.

This recognition is for both the company's strong commitment under the guidance of Russell Burton as well as the very impressive job M.A. Lorio did in marshalling the process at their Parade home that resulted in an incredibly high performing Built Green home. And not insignificantly Miller Burton Homes provided the opportunity for a successful demonstration of the latest fuel cell technology at the Parade.
