Villa Ladera by Tom D. Gorton Construction Company of Durango, Colorado

In their entry for the award, Tom D. Gorton Construction Company submitted that Villa Ladera in Edgemont Highlands, Durango, should be considered not just as a single Built Green home, but rather as the first step in a thousand mile journey toward the broader goal of promoting the values of sustainability and responsible development and construction. Villa Ladera is a remarkable first step, achieving a home energy rating score of 86 (out of 100) and 214 Built Green points. Beyond the walls of that home lies ample evidence of the great lengths this company took to preserve and protect the natural area this subdivision is growing up in. Tom D. Gorton Construction Company has much to be proud of, and the industry will stand to benefit from their leadership and commitment.
