2003 Built Green Awards
The 2003 Built Green Colorado Awards of Excellence were announced
October 23, 2003, at the HBA Annual General Membership meeting.
In the
category of Built Green Home of the Year Under $500,000, the award
of excellence went to Pueblo builder Cruzco Custom Homes, for The
Hallmark. The award was accepted by Paul Cruz. Paul and Jayme Cruz are both
second generation home builders whose mission is to help preserve natural
resources and the environment while building beautiful, affordable homes.
The Hallmark scored 259 Built Green points, utilized solar hot water,
Energy Star lighting throughout, and advanced water wise principles in the
landscaping.
In the category of Built Green Home of the Year Over $500,000 the
award of excellence went to Sattler Homes for the Otsuka Residence.
The award was accepted by Ed Rodgers. Sattler Homes built a home worthy of
its pristine site, preserving the natural beauty of the area while placing
great emphasis on energy efficiency, indoor air quality and water
conservation. The Otsuka Residence scored 232 Built Green points using
innovative zoning design combining radiant with forced-air heat, highly
efficient boilers and triple pane, low-E windows throughout.
The award for Built Green Builder of the Year went to Engle
Homes Colorado. The award was accepted by Erik Eckberg. Engle Homes
began their journey toward high performance homes by partnering with
Building Science Corporation and they haven’t looked back since. All their
homes are registered Built Green and incorporate advanced sealing, 92%
efficient furnaces, mechanical ventilation, sealed combustion appliances and
a rigorous testing regimen. Engle extensively educates their trade partners,
sales team and buyers about Built Green, building science, and
systems-based construction. |
